I’m very fortunate to work for Martin Burlingame. His disaster planning ensured a successful work from home conversion with no noticeable impact. I get to be a part of my daughter’s life that prior to this, was only able to witness second hand or in the evenings.
— Heather Gilginas, Associate Vice President

“The hardest part for me was not having the separation from being at work and then coming home to relax. I feel like I'm able to manage my time better since I don't have to commute into work, and I have less distractions.” - Adriana Oregon, Personal Lines Team Lead

“I am impressed with the way the employees handled themselves with the quick work from home deployment. It showed that the leadership at CIG wanted to make sure everyone was safe. I mostly enjoy wearing gym shorts every day!!” Robert Rogacki, Underwriter

“I love working from home. My new co workers are my cats and they come visit me every once in awhile just to make sure I am still here. I also will not miss driving in the ice and snow to work so I get a lot more accomplished in one day than I did before. I see my kids a lot more than I did before when they get up out of bed they come in and say good morning and we chat for a few minutes.” - Kyra Hansen, Accountant

“I am thankful to work for a company where we have the privilege of being able to work from home. It is nice not to get up and scrape windows in the cold and then drive in bad weather and have a stressful drive, even though I don't have far to go. I do miss my co-workers greatly, but I ultimately feel more productive at home as well. On top of that, when you're trying to maintain healthy eating, it's so much easier to be able to get up and make your food when needed. We have an amazing office family!” Jennifer Solis, Transportation Underwriter

“Working from home has been amazing for me, cutting out a long commute each day which, in turn, equals more time for my job and my family. I am more focused on my work and far less stressed. I love being barefoot all day and listening to my dogs serenade me with snores while I work. During a time when so many people have been laid off or are in fear of losing their jobs I have been deeply blessed by this company’s commitment to their staff.” - Nicole Kann, Commercial Lines Underwriting Assistant

“I like to look on the bright side of things, and though these are difficult times, I am just grateful for my wealth, health and family. Working from home has truly brought a new sense of appreciation for where my life is at now. I mean how could I be mad at saving on gas and time!?” - Devine Kelly, Commercial Lines Underwriting Assistant

“I LOVE working from home. The biggest thing COVID has affected is my child care. My baby sitter is in nursing school. Her schedule keeps getting changed so its causing me to change my schedule. Its been much less drastic transition for me than it has for everyone else that wasn't already working from home.” - Brittani Simpson, Part-time Underwriter and FULL-Time Mom in our Missouri Office

“COVID-19 has made me take a step back and realize what is really important in my life and not to take my health and my family's health for granted. I also have a 4 year old little Chorkie named Elsa who will not leave my side now that I am home with her every day.” - Fara Schnurr, Commercial Lines Underwriter

“We are all spending more time together as a family. I wouldn’t have been able to do it without my husband’s help. We are very fortunate that my husband was here and not deployed to another country.” - Ivy Gonzalez, Personal Lines Underwriter

“I love working from home. I can't wait for winter and to be home with the wood stove going, watching the snow fall as I work. Also, keeps everyone healthy and we don't spread sick germs around the office. I also love that if I don't want music playing I can just open the window and listen to the animals outside or blast Metallica if I want. “ - Tammy Houser, Commercial Lines Underwriting Assistant

“I am very happy to be working from home, and work for a company that had an alternative plan for us when COVID hit. I love that this gives us the chance to move if we would like to move, and that I no longer have the long commute, also being a Florida girl i'm very thankful to not have to drive in the snow come winter. It creates more time for my family, and for me to be able to do things other than work. The only downfall is how much I miss being with my team.” - Emily Juhls, Commercial Lines Underwriting Assistant

I LOVE working from home because it allows me quite time to concentrate on processing quotes and binds and taking phone calls to help agents. I also think that working from home has made each of us value our co-workers more than we already did, we are an office “family” and not seeing them everyday is one of the hard things!
— Mary Pierce, VP and Chief Underwriting Officer
